Ravi Iyengar – Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Prior to founding CoinTerra, Inc. Ravi had over fifteen years of leadership experience at a number of prominent semiconductor companies including Samsung, Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Intel. A highly versatile silicon engineer, his work in architecture design and verification covers a broad range of disciplines, including CPU, GPU, SOC, Desktop and Server chipsets, and ASIC core design.

As the CPU Lead Architect for Samsung Corporation he led the Architecture, Micro-Architecture & RTL Design of the CPU Mid-Core, authored the micro-architecture specification and was responsible for multiple submitted patents.

Ravi has extensive experience in graphics processor design and implementation and as Senior Hardware Engineer at Nvidia he owned the AGU & Loadstore subsystem on the Streaming Microprocessor Module of the Fermi GPGPU and he was responsible for the Register Backbone Manager logic design on the RAGE5 GPU series at ATI Technologies (now AMD).

At Intel Corporation Ravi had numerous roles and responsibilities in the Southbridge and Northbridge Chipset teams for both the Desktop and Server platforms, including extensive work on the PCI-E, PCI-X, Hublink and AGP subsystems. At Qualcomm Ravi was the Design Lead for the Vector Processing Engine of the Modem Core and at Stexar he was responsible for the AGU, Loadstore and L1 Cache subsystem of an x86 CPU core for a digital television System-on-a-Chip.

Ravi holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Wright State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India.

Dr. Timo Hanke – Chief Technology Officer

Timo has over fifteen years at the forefront of research into the crossroads of computer algebra and number theory. His research accomplishments include development of specialized algorithms for state-of-the-art computer algebra systems in fields of research previously inaccessible by machine computation. By doing so, he solved decades-old open problems in abstract algebra. His achievements significantly advanced our current knowledge about mathematical structures called finite-dimensional division algebras.

Timo has held post-doctorate positions at renowned international universities including the Technion in Israel, UC San Diego and UNAM Mexico City. Prior to joining CoinTerra, Timo was a lecturer at RWTH Aachen University, Germany for six years.

He has been invited to speak around the world at prestigious mathematics conferences and has had numerous articles published in highly-regarded scientific journals including the Journal of Algebra, the Journal of Number Theory and Mathematische Annalen.

Timo’s background of expertise in cryptography led him to become an early enthusiast of Bitcoin, and he has over three years of in-depth experience with the Bitcoin protocol and its associated ecosystem. His research lead to a new payment protocol layered on top of Bitcoin’s cryptographic foundations which delivers unprecedented built-in fraud protection. He has pioneered development of a functional proof-of-concept modification of the core Bitcoin software that enables the blockchain to become an autonomous decentralized distributed Certificate Authority.

Timo received his PhD from University of Potsdam and his Diploma (Master’s Degree) from the Free University, Berlin.

Jaime Edwards – VP of Operations

Jaime has more than twenty-five years of engineering-focused operations experience, most recently as VP of Engineering & Operations for NextIO, where he was a key member of the executive team that pioneered I/O virtualization in the datacenter and grew the company tenfold in two years.

Prior to NextIO, Jaime held several positions at Cisco Systems, managing the product development of numerous high-performance network switching and communication products. As part of this role Jaime drove the development of multiple new product portfolios targeting emerging markets including switching solutions for blade servers, metro Ethernet, and Industrial Automation. In his earlier role at Cisco Jaime was a system architect leading Cisco’s third generation DSLAM developments. Before Cisco, Jaime managed the Industrial Communications Research and Development team at National Instruments and worked in software development for multiple government agencies including NASA and the United States Air Force.

Jaime holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and he has been awarded fourteen US patents.

Tamas Blummer – VP of Enterprise Software

Prior to joining CoinTerra, as the Founder and CEO of Bits of Proof Zrt., Tamas was responsible for building a number of pioneering Bitcoin enterprise applications including the BOP Bitcoin Server – a modern and modular implementation of the Bitcoin protocol, BopShop – a merchant payment processor for both online and “brick and mortar” shops, BullionBitcoin – the first real-time auditable exchange for institutional investors, and the back-end for myTREZOR – the first hardware Bitcoin wallet.

Prior to his Bitcoin-related endeavors, Tamas held a number of senior Financial Technology related positions. As Executive Director at Morgan Stanley in Budapest, Hungary, he was responsible for building and leading a team of software engineers who redesigned and implemented its ledger substantiation for trading books.

As Vice President of Product Development at MSCI Managed Services, Tamas was responsible for the global operation of client portfolio risk reporting and led the development team in Budapest to match growing demand with automation. As Head of the Asset Risk Modeling Service he was responsible for offering consulting for structured products risk, and risk proxies of alternate investments.

In his position of Vice President at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, Germany, Tamas was responsible for architecting and operating the portfolio funding application DB’s trading books. As a member of the Fixed Income trading team he implemented automation of market making, and as a key member of the OTC Derivatives Research team he implemented pricing algorithms for interest rate and credit derivatives.

Tamas qualified as an Engineer at NME KFFK Dunaujvaros, Hungary, with a focus on Computer Science and Business Administration and qualified as a Financial Risk Manager at the Global Association of Risk Professionals.

Jez San, OBE – Advisor

Jez began his career in 1984, working on the application of complex three-dimensional mathematical formula to the emerging field of real-time advanced computer graphics. His pioneering work in this field led to the founding of Argonaut Games plc. who developed video games working with the major players in the industry including Electronic Arts, Microsoft and Nintendo. Jez’s work with Nintendo led to him conceiving and developing the SuperFX graphics processor, which allowed 2D video game consoles to seamlessly generate 3D polygonal graphics for the first time, paving the way for all future 3D video games consoles and PC graphics accelerator cards. As a result of the success of the SuperFX chip, He founded ARC International plc. to create RISC processors which were embedded in millions of consumer and industrial devices worldwide. Jez is the Founder and President of PKR, a Europe-facing online poker site and he was an angel investor in Deep Mind, recently acquired by Google.

Jez’s previous research into highly-optimized mathematically complex 3D graphics algorithms and industry-leading semiconductor design and fabrication led to an increasing interest in the rapidly developing area of ASIC chips designed specifically for crypto-currency operation. It is through his knowledge of this area that he became a CoinTerra customer and has subsequently been appointed to CoinTerra’s advisory board. In 2002 Jez was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the British government.
